The Archives: Important in Marriage.

I couldn’t write a blog post on my birthday this year, but this is close. I want to appreciate God for all the blessings, the love and the overall delights in my life. For my birthday, I spent the day out on a ‘Spa Day’ where I went to get a pedicure, had a massage and got my first blow out session at DryBar.

It truly made me feel so strange because I did not spend a day with my three babies. My oldest is now three and youngest is 8 months-old.

My sister was gracious enough to ‘house’ sit my babies while my husband and I attempted to go on our date. We started with meeting Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, then we headed to my husband’s original plan but he spoke up and asked to look up the menu. It was a light bar with appetizers, so I immediately went to search for a place to eat because our town closes everything at 9pm. God was soooo good, we found a perfect Mediterranean restaurant, where they welcomed us and service was top notch. Not only the service was incredible but the food was exquiste! We decided to make it our place, as we tend to have a place in every town we live on. In Corvallis, we had our ‘date nights’ at Del Alma, which is such a missed place to go eat and enjoy the great atmosphere.

Going out to dinner with my husband was great, I truly believe in the importance of making small talk about other things because when you are in the midst of chaos, messiness, children crying, babies diapers, grocery shopping etc…endless lists, you forget about the times that you and your husband need to come together and just have a breather. Now it is a challenge to get time alone, but it is a blessing when it is possible. I will forever be in debt with my sister who is newly wed, who graciously accepted to come and have a few hours at our place so I can have time alone with my husband. God bless her heart.

And if you are reading this, and you are mama, give yourself grace and know that it is so important to give time to yourselves as husband and wife, even if its chaotic and there seems to be no time. Your children need to know that mama and papa love each other so much that they choose each other as a sacrifice to give an example to their children.
